St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 17, 2019 – Sophomore guard Jack Nolan scored a game-high 23 points to lead four players in double figures as the Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team recorded a 75-54 victory over Brandeis University Sunday at the WU Field House in St. Louis.

WashU improved to 16-8 and 9-4 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while Brandeis had its three-game win streak snapped and dropped to 14-10 and 7-6 in the league.

Freshman forward Justin Hardy just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Matt Nester had 12 points and junior guard Jonathan Arenas added 10 points, seven rebounds three assists and three steals.

Junior center Hank Hunter had six points and a career-high 14 rebounds. WashU shot 51.8 percent (29-56) from the field, and outrebounded Brandeis 41-31. The Bears also had a season-low eight turnovers.

Nolan had the hot hand early on scoring the first seven points as WashU had the 7-4 advantage. The Bears hit just 5-of-14 from the field in the first nine minutes of the game. A 13-4 run by Brandeis gave the Judges their largest lead of the contest at 22-15 with 6:07 left.

After a timeout by WashU, the Bears responded with a 12-2 run to gain the 27-24 advantage. Nester had five-straight points and Hardy added a corner three during the run. Freshman Kameron Mack had the final four points for WashU as the Bears took a 29-28 lead to the locker room.

Nolan led the Bears with seven points, while Hunter added four points and eight rebounds. WashU shot 46.2 percent (12-26) from the field and committed just four turnovers.

A three-point play by Arenas pushed the lead to 47-40 with 11:35 to play. Brandeis cut the lead to three with 7:39 to play, but Hardy canned a three and added a lay-up to highlight a 7-0 run and make it 56-46.

WashU put the game out of reach with a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 65-48.

Corey Sherman led Brandeis with 13 points, while Eric D'Aguanno added 10.

WashU hosts the University of Chicago (15-9, 8-5 UAA) in the final regular season game on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. Prior to the contest, the Bears will honor senior center Marcus Meyer and senior All-Purpose Personnel Andrew Sweren.
