Benedictine Men Take Down NACC Leaders

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team took down the leaders of the NACC, MSOE, at home on Wednesday night.

THE DETAILS
A tight contest throughout, much of the game was played within single digits
Benedictine led for nearly the entire first half, grabbing a 5-4 lead in the defensive battle on a layup from Bryan Jakobsze with 15:48 left in the first
The basket was part of a 7-0 run, capped on a Kenny Bogus bucket that enabled Benedictine to lead 10-4
Back-to-back threes from Bogus enabled Benedictine to take an 18-8 lead with 12:46 left in the half
MSOE pulled within a single point twice, but a three from Jakobsze finished a 9-2 spurt to put Benedictine up by eight late in the half
Benedictine led 35-29 at the intermission
The visitors utilized a 7-0 run to jump ahead five minutes into the second half at 41-39
A Keegan Graebner layup put Benedictine back in front shortly after, beginning a see-saw final stretch in which neither team led by more than four points
Down by two with 3:33 to go, Jakobsze made a jumper to put Benedictine ahead for good with 2:33 left and the team made 7-of-8 free throws in the final 1:21 to seal the win
MSOE entered the night 19-2 overall and 14-2 in the NACC

Jakobsze led all scorers with 21 points, adding 12 rebounds for a double-double, the first of his career
Bogus and Michael Johnson each collected 12 points while Kyle Graebner finished with 10
