Bison cruise past Colonels

Junior DeAnte Bruton led five Nichols College student-athletes in double-figures with 16 points in a 120-76 win at Curry College Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at Katz Gymnasium.
 
Sophomore Nate Tenaglia scored 14 points and dished out four assists, junior Marcos Echevarria went for 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals, and senior Josiah Kimball dropped in 10 points as the Bison remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0 (3-0 CCC). Nichols knocked down 56 percent of its field goal attempts and canned 16 triples, highlighted by four from both Tenaglia and Bruton.
 
Jared Thorpe-Johnson paced the Colonels (0-8, 0-3 CCC) with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Dashawn Williams added 11 points for Curry, which shot 41 percent and trailed 65-34 at halftime.
 
Three things you need to know...

-Tonight's contest marked the 69th all-time meeting between Curry College and Nichols College. The Bison have won the last 12 meetings and now lead the series, 36-33.

-Nichols moved to 7-0 for the just the second time in program history. In 1959-60, the Bison won their first seven games under head coach Hal Chalmers.

-The Bison outscored the Colonels 46-22 in the paint and turned 16 turnovers into 27 points.
