Sophomore Matt Morrow went 10-of-12 from the field and finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Nichols College's 88-73 win over Lasell College Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
 
Junior DeAnte Bruton added 17 points to go with five rebounds, five assists, and four dimes for the Bison (2-0). Classmate Jerome Cunningham  posted 16 points, six boards, and two assists as NC shot 52 percent from the field (36-of-69) and canned 10 of its 14 free throw attempts.
 
Lasell was paced by junior Stefan Masciarelli, who led all student-athletes with 27 points (6-of-6 FT). Sophomore Dylan Murray poured in 13 points while classmate Vic Collazo collected 12 points and eight rebounds. The Lasers (1-3) shot 44 percent from the floor.
 
Nichols opened up a 31-12 lead midway through the first before the Lasers closed the half on a 22-11 run to bring their deficit to eight at the break (42-34). They kept the pressure on in the second half, climbing to within five points (50-45) less than five minutes into the half. A triple from freshman Jason O'Regan at 11:40 pushed the NC lad back to double-digits before a 9-0 run later in the half – capped by a triple from junior Kash Jackson – extended the lead to 19 points at 73-54.
 
Three things you need to know...

-Today's game marked the 12th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Lasell College. The Bison have now won three-straight over the Lasers and lead the series, 8-4.

-Morrow's 83.3 field goal percentage in today's contest is tied for the fifth-best in program history, tying him with Kyle Mascilak and Ryan Wilson, who each went 10-of-12 from the field in games from the 2009-10 campaign.

-Nichols is now 2-0 for the second-straight season and third time in the last four.
