Senior Marcos Echevarria scored 23 of his game-high 29 points in the second half of Nichols College's 84-67 win over Trinity (CT) College Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Junior Jerome Cunningham filled the stat sheet with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and a pair of blocks while sophomore Matt Morrow posted his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 boards for the Bison (4-0). The team shot better than 50 percent from the field for the third time in four games this season – including a season-best 45 percent from behind the three-point arc.
Donald Jorden led three Trinity student-athletes in double-figures with 14 points to go with nine rebounds and a pair of times. Kyle Padmore netted 12 points while Connor Merinder collected 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
The Bantams (3-1) led by as many as 10 points early in the first quarter (14-4) before the Bison closed the half on a 31-20 run to take a one-point lead into the break (35-34). Cunningham led all student-athletes with nine first-half points while both Merider and Padmore each scored eight.
Echevarria canned four triples in the second half, the first of which gave NC a 10-point lead five-and-a-half minutes into the stanza. Five-straight points from Cunningham helped extend the lead to 13 points (57-44) before a quick 6-0 run brought the Bantams to within seven points with 9:43 on the clock. A three from Echevarria with 7:01 to go pushed the Nichols lead to 15 points (68-53), and his third of the half with 2:07 left made it a 20-point game.

-Today's game marked the 22nd all-time meeting between Nichols College and Trinity (CT) College. The Bison have won three of the last four and have evened the series at 11 wins each.
-Nichols is 4-0 for the first time since the 1959-60 campaign, when it won its first seven games under head coach Hal Chalmers.
-The Bison posted a season-high shooting percentage for a half in this second half of today's contest, knocking down 65 percent of its field goal attempts (17-of-26).
