Junior DeAnte Bruton poured in a game-high 23 points to propel the Nichols College men's basketball team to an 85-66 win over Wesleyan (CT) University in non-conference action Tuesday night at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Bruton drained five of his seven 3-point attempts in 39 minutes of action for the Bison (3-0). Senior Marcos Echevarria dropped in 19 points – including five 3-pointers – to go with six boards and six dimes while junior Jerome Cunningham filled the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot.
The Bison shot 47 percent from the floor (55 percent in the second half) and drained 42 percent of their three-point attempts (14-of-33). They outrebounded the Cardinals (2-1) by a 39-33 margin and received 23 points from their bench, highlighted by Kash Jackson. The junior racked up 11 points (3-of-5 three-pointers), two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 17 minutes.
Sophomore Austin Hutcherson paced Wesleyan with 21 points while senior Jordan Bonner tallied 14 points (7-of-9 FGA). The Cardinals were outscored by 10 in the paint and shot 44 percent for the game, however they took 11 fewer shots than the Bison and trailed the entire game. They were also outscored 32-22 in the paint despite not having a single student-athlete on their roster under six feet tall.

-Nichols is now 3-0 for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.
-Tonight's contest marked the fourth all-time meeting between Nichols College and Wesleyan (CT) University. The game was also the first in Dudley, and the series is now tied at two.
-Senior Josiah Kimball sparked the Bison off the bench with seven boards, six rebounds, and one block in 17 minutes.
