Men’s Basketball Falls to Hendrix Late

CONWAY, Ark. - A Hendrix field goal with 2.3 seconds remaining was the story as the Sewanee men's basketball's three-game winning streak came to an end with a 70-68 defeat to teh Warriors Friday night inside Grove Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-One of the best defenses in the nation, Sewanee limited the visitors to 33.3 percent (10-of-30) from the floor and 26.7 (4-of-15) from beyond the arc in the first half. The Tigers, who turned the ball over once in the first 20 minutes, led 36-29 at the intermission.

-Hendrix picked up the pace in the second half. Despite no team having a lead more than one possession for the first eight-plus minutes of the second half, Sewanee attempted to put the game away with a Michael Barry triple to lead by six points, 53-47, with 11:39 left.

-With 3:31 left, after Jordan Warlick drained two free throws, the Warriors, trailing 66-62, went on an 8-2 run to reclaim the lead late.

-Tied at 68, Jacob Link broke the tie with 2.3 seconds left on a layup.

-After Sewanee pushed the ball to the front court with 1.9 left, Hendrix forced a turnover on an inbound pass.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Cam Caldwell went 8-of-16 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe for 22 points. The senior also added seven boards, four on the offensive side, and three blocks.

-Luke Smith totaled 16 points, and Hunter Buescher recorded 12 points.

HENDRIX KEY STATISTICS
-Seth Stanley led the Warriors with 20 points, 5-of-10 from downtown, while Jacob Link and Sean Coman added 10 points each.
