ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- It was a record-breaking evening for Nazareth in men's basketball Tuesday as the Golden Flyers routed visiting Elmira in an Empire 8 Conference game, 124-88, at the Kidera Gymnasium.

In winning for the 11th straight time, the Golden Flyers remained unbeaten in conference play at 9-0 and improved to 15-3 overall. The Golden Flyers set program records for most points scored in a game at 124 and for highest overall shooting percentage at 71.0% (49-for-69). Elmira dropped to 5-12 overall and 3-5 in conference games.

Tyler Stenglein led all scorers with a season-high 31 points. He also led all rebounders with 10. Four other Nazareth players reached double digits in points. Jake Burgio had 19, Brendan Wind 15, Daniel Jacob 14 and Cody Green 12.

In racking up the triple-digit point total, the Golden Flyers broke a 22-year-old record of 119 points, set against Wittenberg in a triple overtime game played at Johns Hopkins on Nov. 21, 1997. The shooting percentage record was even older -- 70.2% (33-for-47) in a win at St. Lawrence on Jan. 27, 1986.

The stat sheet began to fill up early on as the Golden Flyers scored the first 11 points of the game and kept the foot on the accelerator the rest of the game. Stenglein scored 20 of his points in the first half when the Golden Flyers shot 74.2 percent from the field (23-for-31) with five three-pointers to lead, 60-41.

The Golden Flyers were never seriously challenged in the second half as the lead continued to swell and everyone was able to contribute. They reached 100 points on a basket by Stenglein with 6:22 to play and broke the single-game record on a basket by Matt Muncey with 1:24 to play.

In scoring his 31 points, Stenglein went 11-for-16 from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line. He passed for five assists and had two steals. Burgio was 8-for-8 from the field, Wind 7-for-8 with five assists and just one turnover.

Nazareth returns to action this weekend with a pair of conference road games. The Golden Flyers visit Sage Friday at 7:30 p.m., then Stevens Saturday at 5.
