LISLE, IL - A solid defensive showing enabled the Benedictine University men's basketball team to reverse a loss from early in the year and claim their 10th victory of the season, holding down visiting Marian at home.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine did not trail in the contest
• The defense held Marian without a point for over six minutes to start the game but could only build a 9-0 lead on a basket from Kyle Graebner
• Marian whittled the deficit down to three points in the low scoring opening 20 minutes at 11-8 with 8:23 to play and pulled within one twice
• Bryan Jakobsze knocked down a three-pointer just before halftime as Benedictine closed the half with a 5-0 run to lead 21-15 at halftime
• Baskets from Eric Grygo and Michael Johnson to open the second half enabled Benedictine to lead by double figures at 25-15
• Grygo made it an 11-point edge at 30-19 with 15:47 to play
• Back-to-back three-pointers as part of an 8-0 run enabled Marian to tie the game at 34-34 halfway through the period
• Benedictine countered with eight straight to lead 42-34 on a jumper from Kenny Bogus
• The visitors twice pulled within three points but Benedictine made four free throws in the final minute to grab the win

• Benedictine held Marian to just 20 percent shooting in the first half and 35.7 percent for the game
