The Yeomen led 67-53 with 10:15 left to play in the second half but saw their 14-point lead evaporate as they were held to just five points for the remainder of regulation as the Bishops battled all the way back to tie it at 72-72. OWU had a great chance to win it as a costly Yeomen turnover gave Ethan Stanislawski a chance to raise up from 25 feet and his would-be game-winner went halfway down before spinning out and giving Oberlin new life.
 
The Bishops would take their lone lead of the game on the first possession of overtime but Joshua Friedkin answered back with the first of his three overtime 3-pointers to put the Yeomen back out in front, 75-74. The third dagger from the Emeryville, California, native later made it 81-76 and six Yeomen free throws increased the lead out to 10 with 33 seconds left to expire but OWU would not go away. A traditional 3-point play coupled with a pair of Yeomen turnovers allowed the Bishops to keep the faith but luckily the clock was on the Yeomen's side as they held on for the victory.
 
It was a victory of significance for the program as it marked Oberlin's first triumph over the Bishops since December 11, 1999 when they prevailed 70-68.
 
Friedkin scored 10 of his 20 points in overtime, while junior classmate Andre Campbell also netted 20 points, going a perfect 10-of-10 at the charity stripe. Christian Fioretti registered 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting to accompany his six assists. Sophomore Wolf Moser was 4-of-5 in the first half, scoring 10 of his career-high 12 points in the opening session.   
 
The Yeomen got off to a hot start, hitting on 18 of their 28 first-half shots for a 64.3 percent success rate. A 3-pointer from the near wing by Eli Silverman-Lloyd had the Yeomen up 11-5 in the early going but the Bishops eventually battled back to tie the game at 17-17 at the 12:44 mark. The score was later even at 26-all but a 10-1 Yeomen run that featured a pair of triple-hits from Moser made it a 36-27 Oberlin advantage with just over five minutes left in the stanza. OWU had the deficit down to six but the Yeomen finished the half strong and ultimately carried a 46-35 lead into the intermission.
 
The Bishops shrunk the Yeomen cushion down to 59-53 at the 11:21 mark of the second half but an 8-0 Oberlin answer that featured five points from Fioretti and a 3-pointer from the far corner by Isaac Finestone built the advantage out to 14 before the Bishops came storming back to setup the exciting finish.
 
The Yeomen shot an impressive 53.7 percent (29-of-54), which included an 11-of-26 (42.3%) showing from beyond the arc. The Bishops were held to 40.8 percent (31-of-76) and struggled from distance as they cashed in just six of the 30 3-pointers they hoisted for a 20 percent clip.
 
Oberlin moved to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the NCAC, while the Bishops dropped back to 8-7 and 3-5 in league play.
 
The Yeomen, who are in the midst of a busy stretch with four games in eight days, will go right back to work on Wednesday night when they host Allegheny College at 8 p.m.
