St. Louis, Mo, Jan. 13, 2019 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team tied a school record with 17 three-pointers made in a 93-62 upset win over No. 12-ranked University of Rochester Sunday in University Athletic Association (UAA) play Sunday at the WU Field House in St. Louis. 

WashU had its two-game losing streak snapped and improved to 8-6 and 1-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while Rochester suffered its second-straight defeat and fell to 11-3 and 1-2 in the league. 

Sophomore guard Jack Nolan scored a career-high 25 points on 7-of-9 three-point field goals, while freshman forward Justin Hardy and junior guard Matt Nester added 12 points apiece. Freshman guard Charlie Jacob had a career-high 10 points off the bench.

WashU shot 52.6 percent (30-57) from the field, including 17-of-32 from three-point range. The Bears outrebounded Rochester 40-28 for the game.

WashU hit its first three shots from beyond the arc and led 16-6 just four minutes into the contest. Nolan continued to have the hot hand as he nailed his fourth three-pointer of the half, and then Hardy followed with a three to make it 40-19. WashU hit eight of its first 10 shot from three-point range. 

The Bears ended the half on an 11-0 run to take a commanding 66-30 advantage lead at the break. Nolan had 22 points and was 6-of-6 from three-point range in the first half. WashU shot a blistering 72.4 percent (21-29) from the field and hit 12-of-16 threes.

Ryan Algier led Rochester with 10 points off the bench. The Yellowjackets shot 40.3 percent (25-62) from the field, and hit just 4-of-23 from three-point range.

WashU heads East to take on NYU on Friday, Jan. 18 and Brandeis on Sunday, Jan. 20.

BEAR NOTEBOOK: WashU leads the all-time series with Rochester 40-25, and the Bears have won three-straight meetings … The Bears celebrated Youth Day … Rochester entered the game allowing 66.5 points per game … WashU is 2-2 against ranked teams this season ... The 17 threes made were one shy of the UAA record.
