The Baruch College Bearcats trailed a majority of the first half and early in the second, but came alive when it counted the most to record a low-scoring 56-53 home win against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Wednesday night.

The visiting Bulldogs took control early to take a three point lead into halftime and managed to lead 33-29 early in the second half, but the Bearcats battled back to take control.

William Sixsmith nailed a three to tie the game at 35-35 with 15:28 left and Bryler Paige hit a three of his own at 13:13 to give the team their first advantage of the second half, 38-35.

The two teams exchanged leads and were later tied again at 48-48 with 5:50 left. William Sixsmith, who played in his career 100th game tonight, hit another big three for a 51-48 lead, which the team would not relinquish.

Brooklyn did get as close as one point twice, including 54-53 with 15 seconds remaining, but a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds by Met Basketball Writer's Association Co-Player of the Week Andre Harris sealed the team's tenth straight home win. 

Harris finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Willliam Sixsmith and Joseph Zecchino Jr. had 12 points each. Jack Sixsmith dished out eight assists.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday 4:00 p.m. at home against Lehman College.

The Baruch College Athletic Department will be hosting Alumni Day on Saturday and will honor the memory of former men's basketball coach (29 years) and athletic director Ray Rankis, who passed away this summer.

There will be a special banner unveiled prior to the men's game to honor Rankis in front of his family, friends and the Baruch community.
