ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 2, 2019)  – Stevens Institute of Technology junior Michael Zignorski was named Empire 8 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Wednesday, the league office announced.

It's the first career weekly honor for the Jefferson, New Jersey native and the first player of the week recognition for men's basketball since Evan Klimchak was honored on Feb. 6, 2017.

Zignorski shot 10-for-15 from the field, including a blistering 7-of-11 from behind the arc, en route to a career-high 27 points as Stevens extended its winning streak to five with a 67-54 victory over Kean University on Dec. 29. The junior guard's seven threes were the most by any Duck since alumnus Patrick Barron also connected on seven triples against the College of Staten Island on Dec. 1, 2016. The high-scoring guard's previous career best was 23, achieved against St. John Fisher College on Jan. 20, 2018. Zignorski also pulled down a season-high six rebounds, handed out two assists, blocked one shot and collected one steal.
