PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Sammy Robinson and Ryan Henderson combined to score 46 points as the St. John Fisher College men's basketball team punched its ticket to the championship game of the annual Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament on Saturday as the Cardinals defeated visiting Alfred State, 82-62, inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court.  With the win, Fisher, which has now come out on top in three of its last four games, moved to 5-2 while the Pioneers slipped to 6-5 on the season.

The Cardinals will look to keep their momentum going at 3 p.m. on Sunday when they face Cortland in the title game.  The Red Dragons moved on after beating Keystone College, 107-79, in the night's other semifinal contest.

Robinson led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with nine rebounds while Henderson went 7-of-12 from the field and finished with 22 points and four boards.  Matt Asenjo added 11 points in the win with six rebounds and three assists while Mark Scanlon chipped in with six points.  Sean Williams contributed five points, two boards, two steals and a pair of assists off the bench.

Both teams were evenly matched over the game's first 11 minutes as the score remained deadlocked at 18-18.  From there, however, the Cardinals built a double-digit lead after stringing together 11 unanswered points including six from Henderson to hold a 29-18 cushion with 6:24 remaining in the opening half. 

The Pioneers cut the deficit to six points with a quick 5-0 run, but a pair of free throws from Louden Porter and a fast break lay-up from Asenjo pushed Fisher's advantage to 10 points with under five minutes still to go before intermission. 

As the first half wore on, the Cardinals continued to push the tempo as the home team scored seven of the period's final nine points to hold a 14-point margin at halftime, 46-32.

As the second half got underway, Alfred State pulled to within seven points only to see the Cardinals respond with an 8-1 run fueled by a put-back dunk from Henderson to make it 62-48 in Fisher's favor.  The lead remained firmly in the Cardinals' hands and would balloon to 20 points after a 15-2 run that saw head coach Mike Grosodonia II's team knock down 5-of-6 shots including three 3-pointers over a four-minute span to hold an 80-60 lead with just over a minute left before the final horn.

As a team, Fisher shot 32-of-65 (.492) from the field including seven from behind the arc.  The Cardinals were 11-of-14 (.786) from the charity stripe and out-rebounded their guest, 41-29.  On the defensive end of the court, Fisher came up with 11 steals and forced 16 turnovers in all.
