The Baruch College Bearcats lost 84-72 to the Owls of Westfield State University on Friday afternoon in Westfield, Massachusetts.
Westfield led 41-34 at the half and gradually extended its lead in the second half by going up 19 points (63-44) with 12:21 remaining.
The visiting Bearcats rallied back to get as close as 11 points (69-58) on a three by Joseph Zecchino Jr. with under eight minutes remaining.
The Owls quickly responded with five consecutive points and later built on their momentum to go back up again, 83-64, in the final two minutes to seal the non-conference home win.
Andre Harris recorded his fourth straight double-double to finish with team-highs of 19 points and 13 rebounds. George Smyth, Jr. had a big game with a career-high of 16 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field.
Jauch Green, Jr. racked up a near triple-double for the hosts with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals, shooting 9-of-16.
The Bearcats received 33 points from the bench and won the rebounding battle, 43-42, but the Owls from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) scored 25 points off Bearcat turnovers for the win in the second-ever contest between both teams.
