Freshman guard Anders Nelson finished with 17 points, nine assists, five steals and four rebounds as the visiting Tommies (7-1 overall, 4-0 MIAC) held off a late Concordia bid to win 79-70 in Moorhead. It was St. Thomas' seventh win in a row.

St. Thomas shot 57 percent from the field, including 9-of-18 from behind the arc. Connor Bair scored 14 points, Elijah Hannah chipped in nine points off the bench, and Michael Hannon scored eight.

Coach John Tauer's team closed the first half on an 11-0 run for a 43-30 halftime cushion. Concordia (1-7, 0-4) trimmed a 17-point lead to just six at 69-63 with under 6:00 to go, but the Tommies used Hannah's 3-point basket and Bair's dunk, both assisted by Nelson, to slow the Cobber momentum.

St. Thomas is home Saturday night to face No. 7-ranked UW-Stevens Point.
