GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Hood College men's basketball team hit 11 of its first 13 field goals and shot 55 percent for the game in an 81-68 win at Messiah in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

• Mason Wang hit 8 of 9 field goals, including all five attempts in the second half. Wang, who went 3 of 4 from 3-point range, finished with a game-high 22 points. It is the fifth time this season that the sophomore has topped 20 points in a game. He led the Blazers with three steals. 
• Michael Riley finished with 17 points, six rebounds and a career-high five assists. He went 3 of 6 behind the arc.
• Evan Wang had 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting and led the team with seven rebounds. 

How it Happened

• The Blazers hit eight straight field goals at one point during a 27-4 run over the game's first eight minutes. Riley and each of the Wang twins scored seven points apiece in the run. Over the same stretch, the Falcons knocked down only 2 of 11 field goals (18 percent) and turned the ball over seven times. 
• Messiah never got closer than 14 over the remainder of the half and Hood led 43-26 at halftime. 
• After opening the second half with a missed shot and two turnovers, the Blazers caught fire again, sinking 13 of their next 15 shots over the next 10 minutes and 20 seconds. Mason Wang scored 15 points during that stretch as Hood built its lead to 77-48 with 8:06 left in the game.

• Hood improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. Messiah is 4-5 and 1-1.
• The Blazers' defense was as impressive as its offense, holding the Falcons to 34 percent shooting, including 10 of 37 from 3-point range (27 percent).
• Hood held a 14-0 advantage in fast-break points. 
• The Blazers shot 16 of 21 at the free throw line (76 percent), while Messiah attempted only 11 free throws in the contest, including none in the first half. 
• Matt Glogowski finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Will Young had 15 points and Sam Whittle added 11.
