NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Southern Vermont College routed the University of Maine at Augusta Sunday afternoon as the Mountaineers topped the Moose 109-65 in the consolation game of Norwich University's Ed Hockenbury Classic held at Andrews Hall Gymnasium.

SVC connected on 62 percent of its field goals in the first half—including eight 3-pointers—to post 64 points and go into the break ahead by 33. The Mountaineers then outscored UMA by 11 in the second frame to conclude the comfortable victory.

Southern Vermont (4-2) now prepares for the start of New England Collegiate Conference action; the Mountaineers will host league-newcomer Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

Five SVC players made their way to double digits in the points column with sophomore Donnell Frayer Jr. (Upper Marlboro, Md.) leading the way with 21 in addition to notching six rebounds and four assists; he was selected to the All-Tournament Team for his performance over the weekend. Senior Josh Borders (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) followed with 20 points, seven boards, and three assists while sophomore Kajuan Kinsey (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) posted 19 points, four steals, and three rebounds with the start.

Mountaineer senior Aaron Murray (Camden, N.J.) also had 19 points, and he pulled down a game and career-high 12 rebounds for his first double-double in the SVC uniform. Freshman Dylan Morris-Gray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) put up a season-best 15 points with three buckets from downtown, and he also tallied four assists on the day.

Southern Vermont finished with a 56.9 percent (41-72) clip from the floor while holding the Moose to a 37.9 (25-66) field goal percentage. 3-pointers were aplenty as the Mountaineers hit 15 of their 31 attempts (48.4 percent) compared to UMA's 11-34 (32.4 percent) tally. SVC dominated the boards with a 41-25 advantage in rebounds, and the Mountaineers outscored UMaine Augusta 22-9 in points off turnovers.

SVC's point total was the most for the program since February 20, 2016 when the Mountaineers defeated Daniel Webster College 110-57.

Southern Vermont didn't trail all day after Borders hit a layup off the opening tip. Frayer Jr. would connect on a pair of shots from outside the arc on the next two Mountaineer possessions, and it was all SVC from there. Kinsey scored six-straight points, and a Morris-Gray triple then capped a 17-0 SVC run late in the half.

Borders had a stellar second stanza as he went 6-7 from 3-point range to register 18 points in the period. Murray added 10 points in the half on a 4-6 clip from the floor.
