LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's basketball team made it four wins in a row with a 91-59 victory over Cal Miramar at Rush Gym on Wednesday night.
Zach Baines led the way with 18 points on 9 for 14 shooting and three dunks in 25 minutes played. He also grabbed seven rebounds and had three assists.
Caleb Yellin-Flaherty continued his hot start to the season with a double-double. He scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, along with four assists and a block. Austin DeWitz had 13 points and five assists, Ryan Kaneshiro had six points, seven rebounds and five assists, Jonny Crosthwaite had five points and four rebounds, and Jacob Adler added 12 points on 4 for 5 shooting from the 3-point line off the bench.
All suited Oxy players got significant court time with the game's result decided in the first half. Forrest Nishi had five points in a quick offensive spurt late in the second half, and Tyler Sweeney and Connor Dargan each added four points off the bench.
Dargan also grabbed five rebounds, including a couple of impressive defensive boards.
The Tigers didn't give up a point until the 12-minute mark in the first half and led 53-17 by halftime.
Season Impact: Oxy opens the season 4-0 and has a pair of wins in exhibition games under its belt.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at West Coast Baptist on Saturday at 7 p.m.
