BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Frank Oftring (North Attleboro, Mass.) led all players with a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds and Babson College built a 29-point first half lead on its way to defeating visiting Bowdoin College, 84-63, in non-conference men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon inside Staake Gymnasium.

With the win, Babson improves to 3-2 overall, while Bowdoin slips to 2-2 on the year.

Oftring finished 10-15 from the floor and added three assists, while sophomore Andrew Jaworski (Tolland, Conn.) scored 18 points for the Beavers. Junior Jack Coolahan (Newtown, Pa.) finished with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc, classmate Julian Alexis (Somerville, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and seven boards, and fellow junior Shyheim Ulrickson (Topsham, Maine.) led all players with six assists in the victory.

Senior Jack Simonds (Falmouth, Maine) had 19 points and seven rebounds, while junior David Reynolds (Raleigh, N.C.) added 16 points and seven boards to lead the Polar Bears.

Oftring made six of his first seven shots and scored 13 points as the Green and White built a 20-7 advantage just over six minutes into the contest. Sophomore Matt Pattyson (Piperville, Pa.) buried a three-pointer to extend the lead to 30-13 at the 9:05 mark, which sparked a 17-2 burst that extended the margin to 44-15 with 3:41 left in the half on a triple by Alexis.

Coolahan made a pair of three-pointers late in the opening stanza, and Jaworski and Oftring combined for a 10-0 run to start the second half as the Beavers took their biggest lead of the game at 64-27 less than two minutes after the break. Bowdoin responded with a 19-3 that included 15 points from Reynolds and Simonds and five turnovers by Babson to cut its deficit to 67-46 with 11:49 remaining.

The Polar Bears got as close as 17 on a hoop by Reynolds with 5:33 to go, but Jaworski answered with his third triple of the afternoon on the following possession to keep the game out of reach.

The Beavers shot a season-best 50.8 percent from the floor while holding Bowdoin, which came into the game shooting 41.5 percent from beyond the arc to just 2-of-14 from distance. The Green and White also finished with a 39-28 edge on the glass.

Babson returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Bates at 7 p.m., while Bowdoin travels to Maine-Farmington on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
