GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Third-seeded Neumann took down second-seeded Gwynedd Mercy, 102-85, in a semifinal contest of the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.

The Griffins, who were looking to return to the conference championship game for the third year in a row and beat the same team for the third time this year, will have to wait for a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Selections will be announced Monday morning.

Rich Dunham scored 21 points and added seven assists while Rip Engel netted 19, hitting five of the team's 11 three-pointers on the night. Courtney Cubbage came off the bench to register 14 points, three assists, two blocks and two steals, but Gwynedd (20-6), who held a one-point lead at the half, got off to rough start after the break.

Neumann (20-7) used an 18-4 run to open the second stanza and built a 13-point lead after a three from Billy Cassidy. The Griffins responded later in the frame with a big 13-3 spurt to get within 67-64 with 11 minutes to go.

After Will Davis hit a leaner in the paint to get it an 80-71 score with 5:30 remaining, Jordan Collins would hit his third three of the game to swing the momentum and give the Knights a double-digit lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

The first half had the two teams swapping buckets, looking to build an early advantage. A three from Matt Carter put Gwynedd on top, 15-10, and later Cubbage would get fouled on his way to the rack, as his three-point play put GMercyU ahead, 30-24 with 8:32 to go before the half. A three from Engel and two more points from Cubbage helped build their largest lead of the game (41-32). Neumann closed the gap, ending the first half on a 12-4 run to get within 45-44 as the teams went into the lockerroom.

Collins was one of three Knights to score 20+ points, finishing with 23 a game-high 12 rebounds. Tyaire Hudson and Aaron Johnson-Chavis each kicked 25 as the team shot just under 60% in the second stanza. Hudso also produced 11 assists. Raquan Brown-Johnson added 15 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

The Griffins were outrebounded, 41-24, marking their largest deficit on the glass all season long.
