More news about: Lancaster Bible

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team celebrated Senior Day in a big way on Saturday, drubbing Bryn Athyn, 98-57 at Horst Athletic Center, as the Chargers rebounded from Wednesday night's surprising loss at Penn St. Abington, and capped the regular season with a victory. The win gives the Chargers 20 wins during the regular season, as Lancaster Bible improved to 20-5 overall and 15-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Bryn Athyn ended its season with a 9-16 overall record and 6-10 mark in NEAC action.

How it Happened: The Chargers stormed out of the gate, using a 9-2 run over the first 3:36 to grab an early lead. Seniors Bill Livezey and Herbie Brown opened the run for the Chargers, while junior Christo Majok capped it with fastbreak layup. After a Bryn Athyn timeout, the Lions got back into the game with a 7-2 run, which Drew Heller ended with a 3-pointer to cut the Chargers' lead to two, 11-9.

A quick 7-0 run by the Chargers followed, as sophomore Luke Beers hit the first of his four 3-pointers during the run, which junior Quentin Davis finished off with a layup to make it 18-9. The Lions cut the deficit to six after a three-point play from Rahim Washington, but Lancaster Bible used another big run, this time an 11-2 spark that Majok capped with a big dunk that made it 29-14.

The Chargers continued to lead throughout the rest of the first half, though Bryn Athyn cut its deficit to seven with 3:51 remaining, before Lancaster Bible re-built a double-digit advantage with just over two minutes remaining. With four seconds left in the half, Tariq Moore converted a layup to cut the Chargers' lead to nine, 36-27.

The teams exchanged baskets during the first two minutes of the second half, but Lancaster Bible put its foot on the gas, and finally left the Lions in the rearview mirror with a 10-0 run over a three minute span to make it 50-31 in favor of the home team. Following a Bryn Athyn bucket, Lancaster Bible used another 10-0 run to really put the game out of reach, as senior Austin Brown and Beers drained 3-pointers during the run. The 20-2 run for the Chargers over a five minute span, gave Lancaster Bible a 60-33 lead with 13:23 remaining.

Lancaster Bible continued to pour it on later in the half, building a lead of 42 (96-54) with just under two minutes remaining on a layup from freshman Matt Pereira, before winning by a margin of 41.
