Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated Rowan University, 82-75, on senior night in the Bradley Center. With the win, the Roadrunners secured the No. 1 seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament.
On senior night, five Roadrunners were honored: captains Thomas Bonacum, Josh Ford, and James Long as well as Christopher Moseley and Nick Stanek.
Bonacum was on fire for the Roadrunners in the first half as he led Ramapo with 13 points and seven rebounds. Ramapo's stout defense held Rowan to 31 percent shooting from the field, while notching their own 42 percent for the half. Long, Moseley, and Rob McWilliams also notched six points in the half.
The second half, though, was a different story as the Profs were the ones off to the hot start. T.J. Booth and Nick DePersia led the way as Booth notched 10 points in the first five minutes of the half. He finished with a game-high 23 on 9-for-14 shooting.
The Profs eventually turned the tide, and took an eight-point lead at 9:44. But the Roadrunners couldn't let their undefeated streak at home this season fall.
They battled back on the legs of Moseley and Patrick Peterson as they regained their lead on a Moseley and-one. After the lead went back and forth, Ramapo eventually sustained it and came away with the victory.
Bonacum finished with a team-high 18 points, while Moseley had 15, Peterson had 13, and Stanek had eight. For Rowan, DePersia notched his 1,000 point on a free throw.
The Roadrunners have won the regular season championship for the second straight season with the victory. The next time they are in action will be next Wednesday when host the NJAC Semi-Final against an opponent to be determined. A full NJAC Tournament Bracket will be announced later tonight.
