HANOVER, IND. – Junior guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) reeled off his eighth straight double-figure scoring effort Saturday, Feb. 10, guiding Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

A recent member of the program's career scoring top 10, Johnson continued his sparkling Black and Gold career with 26 points against defending league champion Hanover College at Collier Arena. He hit on 12 of 20 field goal attempts as one of two MU players in double digits. Freshman forward/center Cornell Hampton (Griffith, Ind.) tallied 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists to aid the Black and Gold's 64-point total.

While those two figures helped lift Coach Gerad Good's side, it wasn't enough to get past a 50-point second half by the Panthers. HC overcame an eight-point deficit in the early stages of the second frame to claim an 86-74 decision.

Manchester University hit better than 48 percent from the field overall and a blistering 52.9 percent from outside the arc to give their hosts all they could handle. Freshman guard Matt Westman (Michigan City, Ind.) was just off double-figure pace with nine points, highlighted by a perfect three-of-three afternoon from three-point range. Fellow freshman guard Jalen Owens (Terre Haute, Ind.) resumed an impressive bench game with eight points.

The Spartans (5-18 overall, 3-13 HCAC) close out the 2017-18 season Wednesday, Feb. 14, hosting Bluffton University and Saturday, Feb. 18, with a home game against Rose-Hulman. Game times are 7:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
