DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College men's basketball team walked-off, 68-66 winners on Saturday over Mary Washington in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) contest thanks to a Brian Cameron half-court buzzer beater.

After Wesley took a 36-33 lead into halftime, Mary Washington overtook Wesley with seven minutes to go in the game and got out to an eight-point lead with just over four minutes to go in regulation. Even though they gave up the lead, Wesley kept the pressure up on Mary Washington to remain in striking distance.

JW Lawson connected on a lay-in on a George Cook assist to cut the Mary Washington to lead to one and make it a 64-63 game with 1:50 left in the game. Cameron gave Wesley the 65-64 lead with 25 seconds left when he drained both of his free throws.

The teams traded timeouts and Mary Washington got possession with eight seconds to go. Jacob Williams found Johnny Cronin cutting to the paint and Cronin laid the ball in to give Mary Washington the 66-65 lead with four seconds to go in the game.

Wesley turned the ball over on a five-second violation on the ensuing inbounds. Needing to foul, Cook fouled Mark Madison before the inbounds pass to send him to the line in the bonus. Madison missed the frontend of the 1-and-1 and Lawson corralled the miss.

Lawson found Cameron following the rebound. Cameron battled with the Mary Washington defender down the sideline and chucked up a desperation three-point attempt just inside the half-court line. As time expired, Cameron's shot found the bottom of the net to give Wesley the clutch conference win.

Wesley was paced by double-doubles from Cameron and Paul Clemons. Clemons scored a game-high 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and added 11 rebounds. Cameron tallied 16 points with a game-best 12 rebounds. Cameron's only made three-pointer of the game came from his buzzer beater.

Lawson and Evan Anderson also recorded double figures in the win. Lawson registered 12 points, a season-high seven steals, six rebounds and four rebounds. Anderson collected 11 points and four rebounds.

Cook chipped in with six assists, four rebounds, three points and two steals. Brandon Lewis notched five points off the bench.

Eric Shaw had 16 points for Mary Washington.

The Wolverines (12-11, 8-8 CAC) will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Salisbury Sea Gulls in the final regular season home game of the 2017-18 season. Tip-off of the Route 13 clash is scheduled for 8 p.m.
