MADISON (NJ) – FDU-Florham went on a 7-0 run over the final 3:37 of the game to give the Devils a 70-63, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over visiting Delaware Valley University.

 

It was the second win of the year of FDU-Florham (2-21, 2-10) while the Aggies fell to 5-18 overall and 3-9 in the MAC Freedom.

 

Down by three, DelVal's Damian Washington sank one of two free throw attempts with 4:05 left and then hit a layup just 28 seconds later to make it 63-63.

 

However, the end belonged to the Devils, starting with a free throw by Veon Lassiter with 3:12 on the clock to break the deadlock. Three players scored two points apiece down the stretch for the 70-63 final.

 

FDU-Florham led throughout the opening 10 minutes of the game before DelVal took charge for the rest of the half and led by three, 33-30, at the break.

 

In the second half, neither team led by more than five points until the final seconds. There were nine ties in the stanza, including the last with under four minutes to go, before the Devils took command down the stretch.

FDU-Florham hit eight of 23 attempts from 3-point land, compared to a 2-for-16 showing by the Aggies. Shawn Smith hit five treys, en route to a 23-point effort. Darren Davy and Ahmad St. Fleur had 18 points apiece while combining for 11 rebounds.

 

Freshman Lybrant Robinson came off the bench and poured in 20 points for DelVal. Fellow rookie Damian Washington had a double-doubles with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Austin Stoeckel added 10 points and right boards while Andre' Butler's line including eight points, seven assists and six rebounds.

 

DelVal will play its final two games of the season next week, beginning with a MAC Freedom road game at Eastern University on Tuesday, February 13 (8 p.m.).
