GENESEO, N.Y. - Ian Schupp hit a game-winning jumper as time expired to send the Oswego State men's basketball team to a 72-70 road victory over Geneseo on Friday night in a pivotal conference matchup.  With the win, Oswego evens their overall record at 9-9 and goes to 6-5 in conference.  Geneseo's record falls to 9-9 overall and 6-5 in the SUNYAC.

The two teams remained close in the first half until Geneseo went on a 10-2 run to push a 15-14 lead to 25-16 with just over seven minutes left in the half.  Oswego would answer back with an 11-2 run of their own on pair of buckets by both Brandan Gartland and Joe Spinola.  The Knights would make one final 10-2 run to end the half and go into the break up 37-29.

Oswego opened up the second half with a pair of 3-pointers by Jamir Ferebee and would close the Knight lead to 45-43 with 13 minutes remaining in the game.  Geneseo would push the lead back to seven before a pair buckets by Gartland and a layup by Josh Ivey would tie it at 50-50 with nine minutes left.

The teams went bucket for bucket with Geneseo maintaining a small lead until the 2:16 mark when Gartland hit his sixth three of the night to put the Lakers up 67-66.  A pair of free throws put Geneseo back up by a point before a Ferebee 3-pointer gave Oswego a 70-68 lead with 1:27 remaining.

Geneseo would get a layup to tie the game with a little over a minute left.  Oswego would get three attempts in the final minute to win the game with Schupp finally putting the Knights away as time expired.

Gartland led Oswego with 25 points while Ferebee had 16.  Ivey (9), Schupp (7) and Liam Sanborn (7) also contributed to the win.

The team is back in action tomorrow when they head to Brockport for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
