GREENSBORO, N.C. – Marcus Curry scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half of Guilford College's 80-70 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over visiting Lynchburg College Wednesday night.

The Quakers (10-8, 6-3 ODAC) led from start to finish in their fifth win in six games, but the Hornets made it close after a dismal first half. Guilford scored the game's first 16 points as Lynchburg missed its first 11 shots. The Quakers' Carson Long poured in 10 of his 18 points in the opening frame as Guilford's lead grew to as much as 18 before setting to 42-28 at the half. Local product Reggie Davis kept his team around by knocking down four three-pointers and scoring 12 of his 15 points in the first half.

Lynchburg's Logan Seacrist erupted for 16 of his team-best 19 points in the second half and rallied the Hornets to within 60-59 with 8:30 remaining. Connor Schroeder, who scored 32 points in the Hornets' previous game, had just two first-half points, but scored 11 second-half points and three three-pointers. His triple capped a 31-18 Hornets' run that made it a one-point game, but the Quakers' defense stiffened and held the Hornets scoreless for the next four minutes.

A Seacrist three-pointer with 2:28 left in regulation got Lynchburg back to within four and the Hornets followed with a defensive stop. Seacrist's drove the basket at the other end, but his shot rimmed. Curry grabbed the rebound, brought it down the floor, worked the clock, and then drove the lane for a critical layup and a foul with 66 seconds left. Curry missed the free throw, but Lynchburg missed a three at the other end and Guilford sealed the win with six free throws in the final 39 seconds.

Alston Thompson delivered 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three blocks for Guilford, which owned a 36-18 edge in interior scoring. Long notched his second straight double-double with 10 rebounds. Curry had seven boards, plus four assists, as the Quakers dominated the glass, 46-29. Guilford shot 53.3 percent from the floor, including 64.3% in the first half.

Behind Seacrist's 19 and Davis's 15, Lynchburg's bench outscored the Quakers', 45-19. The Hornets also made 15 three-pointers, two better than their league-leading average. Schroeder finished with 13 and Devante' Young added seven points, six assist, six rebounds, and two steals.
