BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Cameron Korb (Los Gatos, Calif.) hit the go-ahead three-pointer just over a minute into overtime to help No. 9 MIT defeat Babson College, 80-78, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

Babson, which has dropped two straight games, slips to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in league play, while MIT improves to 15-2 overall and 5-1 in the NEWMAC.

Junior Brandon Johnson (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) scored a career-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists, and senior Nick Comenale (New York Mills, N.Y.) added 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting for the Beavers. Sophomore Shyheim Ulrickson (Topsham, Maine) had 14 points and five assists, while senior Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) chipped in with 13 points and two steals in the loss.

First-year Hamilton Forsythe (Weston, Conn.) led all scorers with 25 points, while junior Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) finished with 22 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and four steals for the Engineers.

After trailing by as many as six in the opening minutes, the Green and White shot 51.7 percent in the opening stanza and led 41-36 at the break. Johnson and first-year Andrew Jaworski (Tolland, Conn.) each opened the second half with five points and sophomore Frank Oftring (North Attleboro, Mass.) contributed a three-pointer to help Babson take a 54-44 lead, its biggest of the game, with 13:29 to go in regulation.

MIT responded with a 12-3 run that included a pair of three-pointers from Forsythe and six points by junior AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) to get within 57-56 with 9:50 remaining. Jomard gave the Engineers their first edge since early in the first half with a driving layup at the 6:27 mark, which was the first of six lead changes in a three-minute stretch. Comenale drilled a triple from the left wing to put the Beavers back in front 70-68 with 3:24 left, and Jacks followed with two free throws to make it a four-point bulge with under three minutes to go.

MIT scored on back-to-back trips, tying the game at 72-72 with a hoop in the paint with 1:28 remaining. Both squads followed with a pair of empty trips to force overtime.

Johnson opened the extra session with a dunk in transition, but the Engineers followed with an 8-1 run that included three-pointers from Korb and sophomore Dakota Pierce (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) to make it 80-75 with 2:05 left. Johnson trimmed the deficit to 80-78 with a free throw at the 1:06 mark, but Babson was off the mark with a pair of contested three-pointers in the final 15 seconds.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as Babson hosts Emerson, while MIT takes on Clark in Cambridge.

• The Beavers are now 53-22 all-time against MIT and despite the loss have won nine of the last 12 meetings between the schools.
• The loss to the Engineers snapped a streak of 42 consecutive wins on Saturday that dates back to the beginning of the 2014-15 season.
• The Green and White is 2-4 this season and 14-10 since 2015 in games decided by five points or less.
• After going 14-of-15 from the free throw line in regulation, the Beavers missed four of six shots from the charity stripe in overtime.
