Patchogue, NY| Senior Isaiah Moore scored his 1,000th career point as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 61-53 victory over Skyline Conference rival SUNY Purchase inside the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 3-11 (3-7 Skyline) on the year as the Panthers slip to 9-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

Moore shot 5-for-10 from the field and scored a game-high 18 points. The four-year Golden Eagle eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark with a three-pointer at 9:27 of the first half.

Senior Mike Harris contributed 13 points, four assists and three steals off the bench, and fellow classman Stephen Cohen went for 10 points, four steals and four rebounds.

Purchase's Nikeem Deleon matched Moore with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting.

After matching the Panthers nearly point-for-point in the first, SJC, trailing 27-24 with 51 seconds to play in the half, scored the period's final four points—all courtesy of Harris—to take a one-point lead into the break (28-27).

With 10:01 to play in regulation, a Deleon layup put the guests up 45-40, but a 10-3 run, capped off with a Moore three-ball at 7:00, saw SJC take a 50-48 lead.

Two converted free throws by Moore with 40 seconds to play extended the hosts' lead to seven points (60-53), and Harris' tally from the charity stripe with six seconds on the clock proved to be evening's final score as the Golden Eagles earned the 61-53 win.

Despite being outrebounded 38-28, St. Joseph's outshot the Panthers 41.7% to 38.2% from the field and 38.9% to 16.7% from three. SJC also forced Purchase into 14 turnovers and held a 15-3 advantage in bench points.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 20 when they host Trinity College in a non-conference showdown at 3:00 pm. Live video and stats for the contest will be available here.
