DOVER, Del. – The Marymount men's basketball team collected its second-straight Capital Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night, as freshman Steve Etienne blocked the game-winning three-point attempt by Wesley College's Brian Cameron to seal up the 72-70 decision. 

The Saints had as much as a 11-point lead with less than four minutes left in the game, but the Wolverines inched their way back into contention. In the final minute, Wesley put away seven-straight points to get within one, 69-68, with 26 second remaining. 

With the shot clock off, Wesley had no choice but to foul and let the Saints decide the game at the line. Senior Dimitri Rucker stepped up, knocking in both free throws to extend the lead to three. However, a foul on the Saints at the other end would send Cameron to the line for the Wolverines, where he hit both to get back within one. 

Once again, Wesley fouled, this time sophomore Ibrahim Kamara, with 11 seconds remaining. Kamara hit the front end of the two free-throw attempts, but the Wolverines came down with the defensive rebound. Getting the ball down the court, Wesley called a quick timeout to draw up a play with six seconds remaining and trailing by two, 72-70. 

Getting the ball in the hands of their leading scorer Cameron, the Wesley guard fired up a three-point attempt as time expired, but Etienne got his hand on it to eliminate the game-winning shot to seal up the Saint victory. 

Although the Saints had a double-digit lead late in the second half, the game played close throughout with 10 lead changes and five ties. 

For the game, Marymount shot 47.3 percent from the floor, including 40.9 percent from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Saints was Rucker with a team-high 23 points, while junior Brandon Rogers added 16 including four from three-point range. Kamara was close to another double-double, dropping in nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Off the bench, freshman Kiran Durant notched nine points, while Etienne chipped in eight points with five rebounds. 

Marymount will return home to start up a four-game home stand on Saturday, January 13 with another league matchup against Mary Washington. The game is labeled as the Alumni Game, with former Saints' basketball players competing in a game of their own in the morning. Tipoff for the men's game is set for 3 p.m., in the Verizon Sports Arena.
