Strong Start Propels Lehman Past Baruch

The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a 68-52 conference loss to the Lightning of Lehman College on Tuesday night in the Bronx.

The hosts scored the first eight points and built up a 14 point lead (35-21) at the half. They extended that advantage to as much as 19 points (47-28) during the second half, but the visiting Bearcats did not go quietly going on a 14-2 run to cut the deficit to 49-42 with under 10 minutes remaining.

The Lighting responded at that point by scoring the next five points and took control for the 68-52 win at the Apex.

The Bearcats shot only 35 percent (19-54) compared to 52 percent (28-54) by the Lightning.

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor led the Bearcats with a double-double of 14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Jean Marcial was tops for the opponent with a game-high 19 points (9-13 FG)
