Senior forward Ryan Boll had 15 points and 10 rebounds, including a key made free throw with eight seconds left, to lead visiting St. Thomas to a 61-57 MIAC men's basketball win at Carleton.

St. Thomas (6-5 overall, 4-2 MIAC) outscored Carleton 24-6 from the 3-point lead to help overcome its 3-of-10 free-thow shooting and its 42-33 rebounding deficit.

Freshman guard Burt Hedstrom made three treys and finished with 12 points for UST. John Veil scored eight points, G.T. Johnson added seven, and Erik Davis and Connor Bair each scored six points. Michael Hannon made his season debut and had two points and two rebounds.

The Tommies, who handed the Knights their first MIAC loss, never trailed and led by as many as 13 points in the second half.

Carleton (7-4, 5-1) used an 8-0 run over a late 2:39 span to pull within 60-57 before Boll was fouled. He made the front end of a one-and-one situation with :08 left to build the four-point cushion.

Kevin Grow had 17 points and 15 boards and Kent Hanson added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights, who had won nine of its last 10 home games since a Janaury 2017 overtime loss to the Tommies.

St. Thomas is home Monday to face Augsburg -- just its third home game of the season. Carleton plays MIAC leader St. John's.
