Emedoh Doubld-Double Sparks Montclair St. Past Stockton, 60-52

Montclair, NJ – Sophomore forward Eddie Emedoh posted a double-double off the bench with 20 points and 11 rebounds as Montclair State stretched its winning streak to six games with a 77-64 victory over Stockton at the Panzer Athletic Center on Saturday.

Freshman guard Myles Mitchell-White added 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Red Hawks, who improved to 11-3 overall, 5-2 in the NJAC with the win. The six-game win streak is MSU's longest since a similar streak during the 2011-2012 campaign.

Steve Ferebee had 13 points and six rebounds for the Ospreys (9-5, 3-4 NJAC).

An early Stockton lead turned into an 11-point advantage for Montclair midway through the first half. Tied at 4-4, Emedoh scored on a three-point play with 17:59 left giving the Red Hawks the lead. He added two from the line three minutes later and a layup with 14:08 to go made the score 13-8. Daniel Ramis drilled a three with 11:25 left extending the lead to seven points before pulling off the rare four-point play (three-pointer + free throw) for a 22-11 lead with 10:33 left.

Stockton got within 24-17 with eight minutes to play however Jarrett Bogus hit a three-pointer and an Emedoh layup boosted the lead to 30-17 with 5:23 remaining. The Red Hawks led by as many as 16 in the half with Mitchell-White's fast-break layup giving Montclair a 41-25 lead at the break.

The Ospreys were held to 24 percent shooting in the first half, but managed to get back into the game near the midpoint of the half with a 13-3 run. Jordan Taylor connected on a jumper bringing the Ospreys within 55-52 with 11:04 to go.

Bogus answered with a three-point play and back-to-back buckets from Mitchell-White pushed the lead back to double digits with a Jovanni Chatham layup giving MSU a 64-52 lead. The 12-point margin was the closest Stockton would get the rest of the way.

Bogus finished with 13 points and eight rebounds as MSU placed four players in double figures. Chatham added 10. Bogus and Kaan Yilmaz grabbed eight rebounds apiece as the Red Hawks enjoyed a 49-38 margin on the boards. Justin Porter scored six points, pulled down five rebounds and handed out eight assists.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, January 10 with a road NJAC contest at Rutgers-Camden beginning at 8:00 pm.
