Emory & Henry Streaks to 95-77 ODAC Win at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Daniel Spencer totaled 21 points and eight rebounds off the bench in visiting Emory & Henry College's 95-77 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Guilford College Wednesday night.

Alic Wynn added 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Wasps (11-1, 3-0 ODAC), who put six students in double-figure scoring and never trailed in the game.

Emory & Henry shot 54.2 percent (13-24) from three-point range and 52.5 percent from the floor overall. Jarris Hendricks knocked down three-of-four trifectas en route to 11 points off the bench and John Shelor also score 11 on three-of-six shooting from long range.

The Wasps made seven of their first nine field goals and scored 16 of the game's first 21 points. A Spencer basket opened a 21-8 Emory & Henry lead before Guilford (5-7, 1-2 ODAC) battled back to within five on a Corey Clemons hoop 5:20 before halftime. The Wasps outscored the hosts by eight the rest of the half and led, 49-36, at halftime. Two Wynn free throws opened the second-half scoring and Guilford never drew closer than 14 points.

Chase Branscomb added 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Emory & Henry. Tharon Suggs finished with 11 points and a game-high eight assists. Reigning ODAC Player of the Week and team scoring leader Colin Molden added eight points and three assists in 20 foul-plagued minutes.

Guilford's Kyler Gregory led the Quakers with 16 points and six boards off the bench on six-of-nine field-goals shooting. Marcus Curry finished with 14 points and Carson Long added nine. Guilford shot just under 52 percent from the floor (28-54) and made six three-pointers, but managed just 15-of-29 shooting from the free-throw line.
