Men’s Basketball Beats Penn State Abington, 93-84

            HUNTINGTON, PA – Hartwick topped Penn State Abington 93-84 in the consolation game at the Juniata Holiday Tournament on Friday afternoon to up its season record to 3-4.

            Austin Haskell Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) registered a double-double off the bench, tying for game-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks.  Patrick Garey (Johnson City, NY Johnson City) added 13 points with Tommy Kelly (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) contributed 12 points and five assists.

             After a tight first half, with a one-point margin separating the two teams, Marc du Moulin's (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) bucket with 15:39 left in the contest would hand the Hawks the lead to stay.

            Haskell would make 6-of-11 from the floor and he knocked down all six of his free-throw attempts. on the day. He had six boards on the offensive glass.

            Corey Baker (Granby, MA/Granby) and Brandon LaForest (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) each contributed nine points for 'Wick. LaForest also dished out five assists. Kevin Townes (Lagrangeville, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Justin Carruthers (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) scored eight points apiece and du Moulin finished with seven. Townes grabbed six rebounds.

            Penn State Abington was paced by Pernell Ghee who led five players in double figures with 19 points. Terrance Reese and Jordan Lomax each added 14.

            Hartwick next plays at the Franklin & Marshall Sponaugle New Year's Tournament next Friday against Delaware Valley beginning at 5:30 pm.
