Senior Nate Olowo had his eighth career double double (12 pts., 11 reb.) as the Pacific men's basketball team saw its eight-game winning streak end in an 80-62 loss to Messiah in the opening game of the Hoops in Holiday Classic.

Messiah had four players in double figures including Nate Eberle, who had a game-high 16 points to lead the Falcons, who improve to 7-2. He was joined in double figures by Matt Glogowski (14 pts), Colin Sareyka (12 pts) and Josh Darville, who also had a double double (10 pts., 15 reb.).

The loss drops the Boxers to 8-1 on the season and Olowo was joined in double figures by sophomore Davis Holly and junior Brevin Brown, who had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Late in the first half, five-straight points by Holly put Pacific ahead 30-27 when the sophomore from Bend made a jumper with 5:51 left. The Falcons answered the spurt with 10-straight to take a lead for the remainder of the contest.

The Boxers, who had overcome four halftime deficits, managed a 9-2 run midway through the second half. The run by the Boxers' cut the deficit to nine, 58-49, before the Falcons' Glogowski answered with a 3-pointer to push the lead back to double digits for the rest of the game with 9:34 left in the game.

In the win, Messiah shot 49.2% (29-for-59) from the field, including a 52.4% (11-for-21) effort from beyond the 3-point line in the win. Both are season-high efforts from Pacific opponents. The Boxers were limited to a season-low nine free throw attempts and 39.4% (26-for-66) shooting from the field.

For the Boxers, the 13 rebounds for Olowo tie a season-high for the senior from Rancho Cucamonga, California. Freshman Jordan Lind scored a season-high nine points in a reserve role. Hawaii natives Saint Gelacio, Chris Kobayashi and Beau Whittaker saw their first action as Boxers in the loss.

Next, Pacific will wrap up its trip to Hawaii with a game against Principia on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. (PST) and 5:45 p.m. (HST).
