Late First-Half Run Lifts Arcadia Past Scranton, 72-56

Arcadia used a big run at the end of the first half to turn a two-point lead into a 17-point edge en route to a 72-56 victory over The University of Scranton men's basketball team on Tuesday night in the Long Center.

The Knights (5-5) led 22-20 with five minutes left before halftime, then finished the period on a 17-2 run to go into the locker room with a 39-22 advantage. Scranton (2-7) scored the first eight points of the second half to get within 39-30, but could inch no closer the rest of the way.

The Royals were led by senior guard Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights), who had 17 points and two blocks. He hit five 3-pointers, giving him 221 for his career, four shy of matching the school record of 224, held by Al Callejas (1997-01).

Sophomore forward Matthew Mancuso (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) finished the night with 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks in his first game after missing the team's first eight with an injury. Senior forward Drew Schankweiler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) added 11 points, nine rebounds, three steals and an assist.

Arcadia, which shot 50 percent (26-for-52) from the field, received a game-high 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals from Da'Kquan Davis. The Knights went 4-for-16 (25 percent) from 3-point range and made 16 of 20 free throws (80 percent). They also won the battle of the boards, 34-30.

Scranton finished the night hitting 19 of 53 (35.8 percent) from the field, including 8-for-30 (26.7 percent) from 3-point range. The Royals made 10 of 13 free throws (76.9 percent) and committed a season-high 21 turnovers, which led to 25 points for Arcadia.

The Royals return to action on Saturday, Dec. 16, when they travel to Trenton, N.J. to take on The College of New Jersey in a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
