Moravian Holds Back Baruch (75-71)

Baruch College narrowly lost 75-71 to the Greyhounds of Moravian College on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats played catch up most of the game after the visiting Greyhounds from Pennsylvania led 41-30 at halftime and 51-40 with 15:40 remaining.

The Bearcats caught up with a big run of 13-2 to tie the contest at 53. They even managed to twice own two point leads (55-53 and 57-55), but the Greyhounds hit timely shots and free throws to take back the lead at 69-61 with 3:37 left.

Despite the run by the visitors, the Bearcats did not go away quietly and again rallied in the final minutes to get as close as 73-71 on a Chimaechi Ekekeugbor layup with 40 seconds left.

The opponent from the Landmark Conference kept the Bearcats off the scoreboard and added another basketball with 13 seconds to walk away with the 75-71 win.

Ekekeugbor led the Bearcats with a double-double of 24 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Andre Harris scored 13 of 15 points in the second half rally. Bryler Paige tallied 12 points.

Jimmy Murray was the top scorer for the Greyhounds with 22 points.

The Bearcats will next go on final exam/holiday break. They will play their next contest at home on Friday, December 29, at 4 p.m. against William Paterson University.
