STANEK LEADS RAMAPO IN WIN, MOSELEY SCORES 1,000TH CAREER POINT

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated NJAC rival William Paterson University 87-65 tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the NJAC while the Pioneers drop to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
 
Senior Nick Stanek led the Roadrunners with 23 points including 15 first half points as he finished 7-10 from the field, 3-4 from the three point line and 6-6 from the free throw line. Sophomore Patrick Peterson posted 16 points and nine rebounds while junior Rob Lewis added ten points and eight rebounds. With 2:41 remaining in the game senior Christopher Moseley scored his 1,000th career point, a jumper, to put Ramapo up 83-61. Moseley is the 21st player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
 
WPU opened the game with a made basket from George Sapp to take a 2-0 lead before Moseley and Stanek scored back-to-back for Ramapo to take a 4-2 lead. Sean Smith tied the game for WPU 6-6 before Stanek nailed a three-pointer off a pass from sophomore Matt Latka to put Ramapo up 9-6 with 13:55 to go in the first half. The Roadrunners did not trail the remainder of the game. Following a three-pointer from WPU's Peter Martinez, Ramapo went on a 6-1 run as Stanek hit back-to-back three-pointers for their first double digit lead of the game 28-18. A three-pointer from sophomore Rob McWilliams gave Ramapo their biggest lead of the half 33-10 before WPU cut the lead to eight 33-25 with under two minutes to play. Ramapo scored the final six points of the half as they went into the locker room up 39-25.
 
The two teams traded baskets to start the half before Ramapo went up 47-29 on a jumper from Peterson with 17:21 left to play. WPU then cut the lead to 49-37 as they went on an 8-2 run which included two three-pointers before Rampao stretched the lead to 61-40 with a 12-3 run of their own. Moseley started the run with a made basket off a dish from Peterson before senior Josh Ford capped off the run with a pair of free throws with fewer than 12 minutes to play.  Ramapo took their biggest lead of the game, a 25-point margin, when sophomore Jordan Zagadou hit a jumper off a pass from rookie Deon Hale to go up 81-59 with 4:14 left on the clock.  In the final three minutes of action both teams scored six points apiece as Ramapo came away with their first NJAC win of the season, 87-65.
 
Ramapo scored 46 points in the paint to WPU's 18 while the Roadrunner bench contributed with 43 points. The Roadrunners shot 46% (31-67) from the field, 33% (5-15) from the three-point line and 80% (20-25) from the free throw line. Ramapo also out rebounded WPU 50-28 in the game.
 
The Pioneers had three players score in double figures while they were led by Martinez with 18 points as he finished 8-10 from the free throw line. Sapp added 13 points and four assists while Dapo Badmos collected 12 points in the game. WPU shot 39% (22-56) from the floor, 28% (8-28) from the three-point line and 61% (13-21) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, November 27th when they travel to Medgar Evers College for a non-conference game at 7:30pm. Ramapo is currently ranked #5 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 preseason poll. The first regular season poll will be released on Monday afternoon.
