Trinity Men's Basketball Bounces Bard

Hartford, Conn. – Junior Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) scored a game-high 19 points and dished six assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 95-64 win over the visiting Bard College Raptors in men's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 5-2, while the Raptors drop to 1-6 with their third setback in a row.  Trinity will visit Springfield on Thursday, December 7 at 7 p.m. for heading into final exams.

Trinity trailed, 13-9, almost seven minutes into the game after a 6-0 Raptor run, but scored 10 points in a row over the next three minutes.  Bantam sophomore guard Tim Flynn (Hartford, Conn.) ignited the 10-0 run with a drive down the middle and Arthur scored five of the 10 points.  The Bantams extended their lead to double digits at 30-19 on a basket inside by junior forward Connor Merinder (Andover, Mass.) at the seven-minute mark, and led, 45-30, at the break.  Arthur and sophomore guard Christian Porydzy (South Glastonbury, Conn.) had 12 points apiece at intermission.

Trinity exploded for 50 more points in the second half, taking a 21-point lead less than five minutes into play on a Flynn jumper and leading by as many as 35 points at 85-49 with 5:35 remaining on a drive by sophomore Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.).  The home team shot 64.7 percent from the field in the second half and finished 40-for-75 for the game (53.3%).  Trinity also outrebounded Bard, 45-36, and forced 19 turnovers while committing 12. 

Porydzy joined Arthur in double figures in scoring with 17 points and added five assists, while sophomore Jadikas Brooks (Elmira, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, scored six points, and blocked a shot off the Bantam bench.  Junior guard David Runcie (South Orange, N.J.) and freshman guard Justyn Rogers (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 11 points apiece for Bard, while senior forward Jelani Bell-Isaac (Peekskill, N.Y.) added 10 points.  Runcie and Raptor sophomore center Emmanuel Oyakhilome (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had seven rebounds each.
