Keuka College Comeback Falls Short at SUNY Poly

MARCY, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost on Saturday to hosts SUNY Poly 76-70 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference North Division matchup.

Keuka College (3-4, 1-1 NEAC) was led by senior Greg Tyler (Edgewater, Md. / Southern) who tied his career-high with 23 points. Ryder Mansfield (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte United) added 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Also in double figures was freshman James Barnes (Rochester, N.Y. / University Prep) with 11 points.

SUNY Poly 76 vs. Keuka College 70

SUNY Poly opened the game 6-6 from the floor to stake an early lead over the Wolves. At the other end of the floor, Keuka College made a couple of free throws, but their first field goal did not come until the 14:18 mark of the first half as Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) knocked down a three pointer to make it 16-6 Wildcats. Keuka got the margin down to five points at 24-19, but a 10 run by SUNY Poly reestablished a double-digit lead. The Wildcats were ahead 40-28 at halftime.

The second half would be all Greg Tyler for the Wolves. After just one first half point, the senior went 7-9 from the field, 3-5 from three-point range, and 5-8 from the free throw line for 22 points in the second half. He scored the last seven points of the game for the Wolves, drawing the margin down to just four points. However, SUNY Poly made six free throws in the final minute of the game to secure the 76-70 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold return home on Tuesday evening for a non-conference matchup with Alfred University. The Saxons are 10-7 all-time against the Wolves and have won the last four meetings with Keuka College, including winning 87-74 on the home floor last season.
