How It Happened
Lebanon Valley flexed some muscle and used a balanced attack to run away with an 85-64 victory over MAC Commonwealth foe Alvernia at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 2.

The Flying Dutchmen (6-1, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) never trailed during their most recent victories and four players reached the double-digit scoring mark. Ricky Bugg posted his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Andy Orr scored a game-high 17 points. Luke Stambaugh was deadly from distance in racking up 13 points and Sam Light added 10 of his own.

A number of reserves made their mark in this one as well. In addition to netting eight points, Andrew Eberhart was a force inside and racked up a career-high four blocks. Caleb Barwin was perfect from beyond the arc, Collin Moore checked a number of statistical boxes, CJ Boxley had three assists, and youngster Zach Tucker continued to impress early in his freshman campaign.

LVC reached double digits first when Light buried a 3-pointer at the 14:18 mark, while a Bugg old-fashioned 3-point play followed by a tightly-contested layup by Will Boccanfuso put the Dutchmen out in front 19-9 with 11:09 remaining in the opening half.

After an Eberhart jumper pushed Lebanon Valley's advantage to 14 points, the Golden Wolves (2-4, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) mounted a comeback and cut the deficit to 32-27 at the 4:12 mark. LVC had an answer, however, as triples from Barwin and Stambaugh kept Alvernia at bay and gave the Dutchmen a more comfortable 48-35 lead heading into halftime.

It was all Lebanon Valley after the break, with Bugg's alley-oop to Orr and Chris Anderson's fastbreak layup off a Light assist on back-to-back possessions giving the squad its first 20-point advantage of the afternoon with less than 15 minutes to play.

LVC's largest lead of the day came when Stambaugh buried his third 3-ball of the game off a find from Orr in the low post with 7:25 remaining to make it 70-42.

The Dutchmen put an exclamation point on the victory when Boxley, Moore, and Eberhart turned garbage into gold with less than four minutes left. Boxley dove for a loose ball, flipped it over his shoulder to Moore who drove to the basket, got his defender to commit and hit Eberhart on the block for a two-handed jam.

Turning Point
After trailing by as many as 14 points in the early going, Alvernia put together a run that saw the visitors draw to within five late in the first half. That's as close as the Dutchmen allowed AU to get, however, as Caleb Barwin and Luke Stambaugh combined for a trio of 3-balls in the final 3:28 of the first half to stifle the Golden Wolves' run. Sam Light's jumper, a transition layup from Ricky Bugg, and a pair of Zach Tucker free throws helped push the advantage back to double digits heading into halftime.
