Late 3-Pointer Lifts Cabrini Past Royals On Wednesday Night

RADNOR, Pa. – Cabrini's Ivan Robinson buried a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to break a tie ball game and lift the Cavaliers past The University of Scranton men's basketball team, 71-67, on Wednesday night in Nerney Field House.

Scranton (2-4) had pulled even on four straight points from senior guard Kevin Doolan (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), the last on a free throw with 37 seconds left. But Robinson connected from long range and the Cavaliers added a free throw with two seconds left to secure the win.

The Royals put four players in double figures in scoring, led by a career-high 18 points from junior guard Jack Connelly (Ellington, Conn./Ellington), who went 4-for-5 from 3-point range. He added six rebounds, also a career high.

Senior center Drew Schankweiler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) had his third double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. He also had a career-high four blocks, three assists and a steal. Doolan finished the night with 16 points, including at trio of 3-pointers, four rebounds, four assists and a steal. Senior guard Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) added 11 points.

Scranton shot 50 percent (27-for-54) from the field, including 9-for-20 (45 percent) from 3-point rnage. The Royals made 4 of 9 from the free throw line and committed just 12 turnovers while holding a narrow 28-26 edge in points in the paint.

Cabrini (3-1) shot 40.6 percent (28-for-69) from the field, including 8-for-26 (30.8 percent) from 3-point range. The Cavaliers made 7 of 11 from the free throw line and had a narrow 37-36 rebounding edge. They also committed just seven turnovers.

The Royals return to action on Saturday, Dec. 2, when they visit Huntingdon, Pa. to open Landmark Conference play against Juniata at 2 p.m.
