KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team withstood a second half rally by visiting Penn College to defeat the Wildcats 69-60 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) was the lone player for Keuka College (3-3, 1-0 NEAC) in double figures. The senior finished with a season-high 19 points. He also led the Wolves with nine rebounds. Trevor Powell (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn) finished with eight points, four rebounds, and career-high six assists.
Keuka College 69 vs. Penn College 60
The Wolves came out firing on Wednesday, making their first three three-point attempts of the game to stake and early 11-2 lead over Penn College five minutes in. The Green and Gold pushed their lead out to 15 points as the game neared the midway point of the first half on a jumper by Trevor Powell to make it 22-7. Penn College would fight to remain in the game. The Wildcats outscored the Wolves 15-8 over the final five minutes of the first half, but Keuka College would maintain a 10-point lead, 39-29 at the half.
Penn College would continue to cut into the lead. The Keuka College lead was down to five points at 48-43 with 10 minutes left to play. A three pointer by David Oliveras (Great Mills, Md. / Great Mills) pushed the lead back to eight points, but the Wildcats stuck around. A three by Penn College with 7:20 left made it a one-possession game at 53-50. Later in the half, the lead would be down to one, but the Wolves responded with seven unanswered points to create separation. Keuka College would continue onto the 69-60 conference victory.
