The Baruch College Bearcats competed on Saturday afternoon at the Carnegie Mellon University Doubletree Invitational against the Eagles from the University of Mary Washington.

During the contest, Chimaechi Ekekeugbor became the men's basketball team all-time scoring leader with a jumper at 13:02 of the first half for his 1,574th career point, which surpassed Chris Beauchamp '12 (1,573) on the all-time scoring charts.

Ekekeghbor finished the contest with 28 points in a tough 69-54 neutral site loss to the Eagles from the Capital Athletic Conference. The Bearcats will next play the loser of the 3 p.m. contest between the hosts Carnegie Mellon and Chatham University in the consolation contest on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The turning point took place early in the second half. After a jumper by Ekekeugbor cut the deficit to one point (33-32) with 18:18 left, the Eagles connected on four 3-pointers as part of a game-busting 14-0 run in the next four minutes to take a 47-32 lead.

The Bearcats attempted to chip away at the lead and managed to get as close as six points twice, but the Eagles responded each team en route to the 69-54 victory.
