Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 for the first time in 10 years, never trailing in an 80-51 win over the visiting Elms College Blazers this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  The Bantams, which last went 3-0 in 2007-08 on their way to their only New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title, held the Blazers to 26.9 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded Elms, 49-27.  The Blazers drop to 0-4.  Trinity will entertain Nichols in its next game on Sunday, November 26 at 3 p.m.

Trinity junior Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) scored on a fastbreak layup to ignite a 9-0 run that gave the Bantams an 11-2 lead 4:41 into the game, and classmate Connor Merinder (Andover, Mass.) scored four points during an 11-0 run later in the first half for a 29-10 Trinity advantage.  The Bantams led, 40-25, at halftime, as Arthur led the offense with 13 points, and pushed its lead to 30 points at 74-44 on two Arthur free throws with 5:08 remaining.  Trinity reached the 80-point mark for the third time in as many games this season when sophomore guard Tim Flynn (Hartford, Conn.) hit a jumper with 1:20 on the clock for the game's final points.

Arthur finished with a game-high 18 points and added seven rebounds and four assists, while senior co-captain Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) had 12 of his 16 points in the second half to go with game-highs of 10 rebounds, six assists, and four blocked shots.  Merinder contributed nine points and six boards, and sophomore guard Joe Bell (Manchester, N.H.) came off the bench to score eight points and make three steals.  Sophomore forward DeAngelo Cousar (Bowie, Md.) paced the Blazers with 12 points, sinking 3-of-6 three-point attempts, and added four rebounds, while classmate Pablo Ortiz (Newington, Conn.) added 11 points and four boards.  Elms made just 14 field goals in 52 attempts and committed 20 turnovers.
