Baruch Defeats Yeshiva in Home Opener

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor recorded a double-double (24 points,10 rebounds) and Bryler Paige scored 22 points to lead the Baruch College Bearcats to an 83-73 non-conference home win against Yeshiva University on Saturday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats stumbled out of the opening whistle trailing 7-0, but regrouped the rest of the first half to build a comfortable 46-34 halftime lead.

During the second half, the lead grew to as much as 21 points (68-47), but a late rally by the visiting Maccabees cut the score to seven points (80-73) with 2:13 left. Paige quickly responded with a three to push the score to 83-73, which remained as the final result.

William Sixsmith contributed 12 points and Andre Harris narrowly missed a double-double with 9 points and rebounds each. Anthony Gibbs dished out as career-high eight assists.

The Maccabees won the battle of the boards (45-35), but the Bearcats out-shot them 46% (30-65) compared to their 39% (26-67).

Bar Alluf led the visitors with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
