ALBION, Mich. – Trine University showed why it boasts the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's top defense as it stifled Albion College, 79-62, inside Kresge Gymnasium.

The loss snapped Albion's five-game win streak as the Britons finished the regular season 10-15 overall and 7-7 against league rivals.

Will Dixon knocked down three free throws and Jordan Kreglow hit a 3-point shot as Trine finished the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 36-21 lead at halftime.

Albion shot 54 percent from the field in the second half, but it never got the stops it needed on the defensive end to mount a comeback. Corey Wheeler scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the second half.

Jaylin Fordham also chipped in with 10 points for the Britons.

Dixon led all players with 25 points, while Myles Copeland produced 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
