CHICAGO, Ill. - On Thursday, the Chicago Tribune featured one of Division III's up-and-coming men's basketball programs.
Chicago Tribune reporter Shannon Ryan talked with Illinois Institute of Technology (17-5) Head Coach Todd Kelly and members of the university's data science program to discuss the team's utilization of analytics. Over the summer, students of the program worked with Kelly to develop advanced statistics such as player efficiency rating, offensive and defensive rating, real plus/minus, and optimal lineup combinations. The story is featured both digitally and on the front page of the newspaper's print sports secton for February 16.
